-:UGC:- Game Server Selection (Information)

Many of you are unaware of the work put into selecting our current Game Sever provider at The United Gamers Coalition & I thought this would be a good opportunity to explain why we chose Wolf Servers.

Goal:
Network Connectivity, Network Connectivity , Network Connectivity!!!

Servers: Most gaming communities are under the impression that the server & relative processing capabilities are the highest priority but that happens to be a false impression or rumor that many do not understand. An actual standardized server would probably rank between a Dual Core & Quad Core encompassing approximate 10 - 20% Processor Usage at runtime & an open guesstimate for RAM (Random Access Memory) usage is probably minimal as compared to the available memory in a standard server (Generally Around 2 - 4 GB's).

Note: Currently, each server at -:UGC:- is only tasking about 10% of the available memory...

Network Architecture: Wolf, currently uses a few different bandwidth providers to include Peer1, Level3 and Time Warner to name a few. All of their edge routers are Cisco and so they can process the traffic very fast and don't introduce latency (lag). Wolf is also GameRail enabled in which will decrease ping & hop counts for any subscribed clients.

What Does GameRail Enabled Mean: Well, GameRail is a nationwide private network that is bundled with a smart desktop application that determines the best routes & is a paid service for those gamers whom are interested in an enhanced connection to our servers, giving an edge to those that have a competitive nature. Being a client of GameRail will improve a gamers experience first and foremost as there is no pier to pier network competition on a dedicated gaming network & you will even feel  the difference without the 10 to 50 millisecond ping increase that occurs with smart routing.

Service: First and foremost, the United Gamers Coalition ( -:UGC:- ) has more than 5 servers encompassing more than 160 active players at any given time & since our community is based on donations, the choices we make determine the level of community interaction. -:UGC:- demands the service levels that Wolf has been providing over the last few months. As a note for those interested, Wolfs motto is "WOLFServers::Any Game Any Time!::Game Servers in about an Hour!" & we feel that the support system being provided resides at the same level.

I hope everyone here has enjoyed the reading & can understand the confidence we have in the technologies we implement to make this the best community possible.

Enjoy

It did perform.  It moved my ping from 100 to about 60 but the've decided to disband until higher participation becomes available.

Sorry I didn't reply a long time ago but I assumed you took the free download.

It was a private non shared network for gamers but it's cost to run was pretty high requiring paying members to participate.
