Much needed change. I love the new site.

Question about the system generated emails... They are improperly formatted when I receive them. The don't appear to have the proper mime type so all I see is html code rather than a pretty looking message. Also, why base64 encode your message? Usually that would be reserved for images.

Odd.. this doesn't count as a post in my post count.

** actually the first reply did not up the count. When I press the count number I don't see these posts in the list. And I can't seem to edit a post. When I press POST, I am still in the edit window. You must enter EDIT NOTES in order to post your edit. OK

    Foylman,

The system were using runs it's processes like a job  vs a quick hit to a database for performance, quality & scalability reasons & although were a small community right now were providing advanced features to ensure a better future.  Please let me know if your post has not updated within a 15 minute time-frame.

Just as a heads up most posts are immediate but they still run through a process that provides a dynamic update to the site-map, your profile & several other statistics, logging and search engine optimization features. The average time for most functions is about 15 minutes but we have other functions that run at around 10.

I did check your post count and I'm only seeing 5 as reported for your profile. If something is missing please let me know?

    Thanks In Advance

Actually, there is a rule on the email system that removes specific HTML Tags but I added a hack that allows our Admin to send an email & automatically adds the HTML for our Banner Image. I can take a look at it but I would like to see what your getting. Another issue to think about is that system has about 30 or 40 different triggers that push out an email and I may have edited the specific template incorrectly.

Please let me know what your getting & I was also thinking it might have something to do with the other languages were currently supporting locally on the server but I would still need more information to see whats happening.

    Thanks

    Re: Site Updated (Poll)

The reason it's using Base 64 is for stream-writing from the Databse using XML into memory but I am not sure why your not able to read the email as it's actually saying that it's character set is utf-8 in which is standard for the US Language.

I'm wondering if this is a one off? Would you mind if I send you a direct email? Our site hides your actual information unless you've updated your profile with a public email address but I can send a direct email using the same method.

    Thanks

Go for it. I'll let you know what I get as a results of your direct email.

I would have said perhaps Thunderbird doesn't like the emails... but I see the same results in Gmail.

It looks like all the line breaks are missing.

Give it 15 minutes as this is one of those jobs I spoke to you about.

    Cross-Fingers as well!!!

    Re: Site Updated (Poll)

I did get one of my G-Mail Invitations so this breaks it down to a potential template or possibly a bad stream-write (1 off) hopefully but G-Mail is doing something with the image because I was unable to download from G-Mail but I generally use a POP Account.

Here is what I'm getting at G-Mail minus the image:

This is what my POP Account Looks like:

Sorry. I am getting the exact same results from that email too. Gmail version shown below.

If I am the only one with the error.. then I say let me suffer. I'll deal with it. I just pointed it out to save someone else from the trouble.

    Re: Site Updated (Poll)

No, I think we need to look at this. Can you check and see how your page is encoding. I'm not sure if this is the reason but it's something I've found with alternate languages. Since your using an alternate browser it may be in a different location as well but I think it's worth a look see!!!

    Re: Site Updated (Poll)

Encoding is set to Western (ISO-8859-1)

I can only assume that Gmail is the same. However, if I can't read it in Gmail.. isn't that an issue. I can't control the encoding there that I know of.

I wonder if it's my spam filter with spamcop.net. I just now set my email options for the site to deliver directly to gmail. Let's see if that clears anything up.

    Re: Site Updated (Poll)

I would think UTF-8 would be the best encoding as it's pretty much standard these days but let me know what happens with spamcop.net. This might be a question that comes up quite a bit since we do have several international visitors and previously had a Joint Venture TWL Team with a group in Belgium.

Nope. The email sent directly to gmail contains the same problem.

Is it perhaps my account settings?
